Dale Holmes Class of 1959

Dr. Dale Holmes played varsity basketball and graduated 2nd in the class of 1956. He received a BSEE from Purdue University, a MS from the University of Rochester and a PhD from Carnegie Institute of Technology.

Dale's entire career, as a professor, Air Force officer and aerospace scientist, was devoted to performing and leading research projects on advanced laser optical systems for military applications. While in the Air Force, Dale received the USAF R&D Award.

He has co-authored many dozens of technical articles and has been awarded four patents.

He has been listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.

Since entering the practice of law in Indianapolis, Norman T. (Tom) Funk has tried cases and argued appeals in Federal and State Courts throughout Indiana and beyond.

He has served the Indiana Defense Bar as President, Indiana Supreme Court as a member of its Rules Committee, and Indiana University School of Law as adjunct professor. Tom has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and honored by the Bar both for his courage in litigation and for his civility toward judges, opposing counsel, and adverse parties.

Recently, Tom was selected by his peers as among the Top 50 Lawyers in Indiana.

Frank has received numerous grant awards from the National Institutes of Health and other organizations, and has been awarded honorary degrees from Harvard University and Brown University.

After graduating from Garrett High School in 1972, Thomas Sellke majored in mathematics at Wabash College. He spent a year as a Rotary Foundation Fellow in Goettingen, Germany, and then did graduate work at Stanford University, earning a Ph.D. in Statistics in 1983.

After a year in Berkeley, Tom joined the Department of Statistics at Purdue, where he is now a full professor.
He has been a visiting professor at Columbia University, Stanford University, the University of Heidelberg in Germany, and the University of Perugia in Italy.

Tom works in theoretical statistics and in probability, in particular in survival analysis, epidemic models, branching diffusions, and the Bayesian interpretation of observed significance levels.

Frank Sellke Class of 1974

After graduating from Garrett High School, Frank Sellke attended Wabash College and Indiana University School of Medicine.

He is currently the Karlson and Karlson Professor and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Brown University Medical School. Before moving to Brown University, Frank was an Endowed Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

He is a noted cardiothoracic surgeon, author and researcher, and the editor of several standard textbooks in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. He has authored more than 325 scientific articles.

Frank has received numerous grant awards from the National Institutes of Health and other organizations, and has been awarded honorary degrees from Harvard University and Brown University.

Michael Morsches' passion for helping others was fostered while attending GHS and participating in FCA and other clubs. He has worked in Jamaica, Yemen, Tanzania, Eritrea, Palestine, and Jordan helping develop adult literacy and teacher-training initiatives. He has served and worked for several international agencies including the US Peace Corps and the United Nations Relief Works Agency.

Michael has also been heavily involved with adult literacy programs here in the US. He has worked with local, state, and national literacy programs, as well as with numerous colleges and universities helping underprepared students transition to college.
